She Wore Blue Velvet

I knew there was a song by that name and checked it out- apparently a hit for Tony Bennett and then a number one for Bobby Vinton. The song was the inspiration for the cult movie by the same name (1986) directed by David Lynch and a breakthrough role for Dennis Hopper.

Now appearing in a gentler role  as a pair of shoes by way of Underground creepers. The other thing I like about them is that the velvet is on trend but it also a wink in the direction of the Velvet drape jackets that are synonymous with the Teddy Boys who started the whole thing going back in the fifties. Underground Exclusives at Topshop

Topshop  Oxford Circus have some limited edition exclusives being released this week.  The basic creeper style has been produced in luxury blue velvet and red velvet along with a midnight blue suede. The Underground Blitz boot is also available in an off white leather as well as the classic black leather.
